Alone

Alone and embracing the darkness,
Sorrow cutting deeply to the core;
A black emptiness surrounds the heart.
A shadow tries to breach the wall to no avail.

Knees drawn up tight against her chest,
Her head on her knees, hair tumbling all around.
Tears leave black rivers down her face,
Eyes blood shot and pools of coppery lava.

Leave her to mourn, leave her to die,
There is nothing left for her in this life.
Nobody wants her and nobody needs her,
Life is but a waste for an empty soul.

A hand reaches out to grab her arm,
Strong, masculine and pumping with life;
Determination that she will live and breathe again;
He wants her, he needs her, and he cannot live without her.

She awakens from her dream and looks beside her,
A face, angelic in sleep, yet totally masculine in features,
Not his face, not his smile, not his lips, not his hands;
She lays awake and wonders where this road will take her.
