Goodbye

Tears of ice stream down her face,
Broken hearts and broken dreams,
A coldness sweeps across this place
Of forgotten promises.

Trembling and cold she walks
Across the open plain of loneliness.
Her face a mask of white and streaks of black;
A barren soul in her breast.

He stands at the edge, not knowing what to do,
A heart torn between love unknown and a path of constant glory.
Standing tall, he looks down at the abyss below;
Cold dark waters wait to embrace him.

She comes slowly, each step taking her closer;
Closer to the dark embrace of death's waiting arms.
Blood seeps dark and scarlett against her pale skin,
Leaving a trail behind to remind her and him.

She stands at the edge of the dark abyss
Turning to look up to him;
Looking up into his cool blue eyes;
With a smile cold and bloodless she says goodbye.

He watches as she floats through time
A whisper carried on the wind;
Goodbye.....Goodbye.....
He stands, a moment in time, goodbye.

Love's Reality

The reality of love long lost
Sinks deeply into the heart,
So many sweet dreams,
So many long lost memories.

A love once strong,
Now is completely gone.
A heart once beating
Open arms once waiting.

A dark shadow now resides
In a place where none can hide;
Crashing against the cliff,
Sadness swells like waves.

What went wrong?
Was it the timing?
Was it the pain?
Who knew it would end this way.

Dark shadows beat at her;
Leaving marks, deep and bleeding.
A love once strong,
Is now completely gone.

A body lies in a death trance,
Waiting for the moment it will end.
The pain, the suffering,
The deep ingrained hurt.

A shadow of a woman,
Once strong and bright;
Now lies in wait for the moment
Death will knock and she can try again.

Life

Life, a joke, a comedy of errors
Waiting for the final current call.
Lying in wait, a heart, a soul,
Vulnerable to the elements of time.

The player slowly trudges across
An open stage, an open window.
Unsure of what lies in the darkness,
A body, waiting for one more chance.

A chance at love, laughter, death,
Forgiveness not given, wanted desperately.
A tunnel, light, a shadow in time,
Don’t look back, a hand reaching.

The player reaching for something,
Unknown hands reaching.
A heart beating, slowly, flickering
A chance, one more time, at Life.

Old Wounds

Life lays open old wounds
Thought once forgotten;
The healing kiss of love like
Salt cuts deep those wounds.
A heart once again afraid to beat;
The soft crashing waves a healing balm.

A child once full of love and joy,
Now sits broken among the rocks.
Pebbles lay around her in testament
To her shattered childhood spirit.

She sits and sings a lonely tune
From deep within her soul;
A mournful melody; a somber mood;
A childhood lost, and gaiety long gone.

Broken dreams, shattered spirit
Lay among the tide at daybreak.
A child’s laughter a distant echo;
A mournful melody plays out among the waves.

Alone

Alone and embracing the darkness,
Sorrow cutting deeply to the core;
A black emptiness surrounds the heart.
A shadow tries to breach the wall to no avail.

Knees drawn up tight against her chest,
Her head on her knees, hair tumbling all around.
Tears leave black rivers down her face,
Eyes blood shot and pools of coppery lava.

Leave her to mourn, leave her to die,
There is nothing left for her in this life.
Nobody wants her and nobody needs her,
Life is but a waste for an empty soul.

A hand reaches out to grab her arm,
Strong, masculine and pumping with life;
Determination that she will live and breathe again;
He wants her, he needs her, and he cannot live without her.

She awakens from her dream and looks beside her,
A face, angelic in sleep, yet totally masculine in features,
Not his face, not his smile, not his lips, not his hands;
She lays awake and wonders where this road will take her.
